Rev. George & Vera Dapaah The Dapaahs minister in their native Ghana, an independent country located in West Africa. Their three children, Gideon, Miriam, and Martha, actively participate in spreading the gospel as well. While 64% of the population profess to be Christians, only 40% have any link with a church and only 12% are regular attenders.

Approximately one quarter of the people of Ghana maintain the traditional animistic credo, the belief that animals have special powers and should be worshipped; this explains why art in Ghana is dominated by woodcarving, specifically masks featuring animal-like features that are used in ritualistic dance and music.
Brother Dapaah is the founder and executive director of Solid Rock Evangelistic Ministries (SREM), an organization known for church planting. In view of the fact that of the 26,000 towns and villages in Ghana, 15,000 have no congregation of believers, Brother Dapaah’s ministry is sorely needed. He and his helpers organize evangelistic crusades, Bible studies, youth rallies, family retreats, and visitation crusades. It would not be unusual to find Brother Dapaah delivering God’s Word to a group of fifty believers, and then later, seeing those fifty saints knocking on doors throughout the community, distributing tracts and repeating the blessed message of salvation to all who will listen.
We here at Open Door all witnessed the Lord’s might and power in the founding and building of our own church; consider the strength, wisdom, and courage He gave the Dapaahs to plant THREE churches in Ghana. Whenever we gather together on Sundays and Wednesdays to worship, think about Brother Dapaah ministering to people sitting on wooden benches (not padded pews), in the open air (not in an air conditioned building) even in bad weather!
