Martin and Linda Valcarcel arrived as missionaries to Spain in August of 1974.  They have been involved in church planting, evangelism, camp ministry, and leadership training in Barcelona—all in spite of a growing population that is 97% Roman Catholic.  Spain was submerged into Catholicism by the 8^th century, and since then it has not been a Christian country in the biblical sense.  The Spanish religion was controlled for over 300 years by the “Holy Inquisition,” which exterminated all those that professed any other religion than Roman Catholicism.  In 1978, praise the Lord, the constitution there decreed that Spain would have no national religion.  Since then, the doors to preach the gospel with liberty have been opened.  There are approximately 39 million souls in Spain; only one in every thousand is said to be an evangelical Christian.

Their four grown children, Rebeca, Paul, Daniel, and Joshua, visit as often as possible with their spouses and children and are all involved in serving the Lord.
